Pairing a tablet
A PizzaBot tablet never downloads an app until it is paired. Pairing binds the tablet to one store on your account and chooses the app it runs. It takes about a minute, from a phone or any computer, and nobody has to be at the tablet.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A store on the Stores page with the app turned on. Pairing only offers stores that have Preppy or DMS on.
- A phone or computer signed in to app.pizzabot.io as an owner or manager.
- The tablet, with PizzaBot Setup run on it. The install page covers that side. Setup shows a six-character code and a QR code, and keeps a fresh code on the screen for a day.
The steps
Section titled “The steps”- Setup shows the code on the tablet, in the form
ABC-DEF, with a QR code beside it. - Scan the QR with your phone camera, which opens the pair page with the code filled in; or open app.pizzabot.io/pair (or Pair a tablet on the Devices page) and type the code.
- The page looks it up and names the tablet. If the code is not recognised, has already been used, or has expired, it says so. A code lasts ten minutes, and the tablet replaces it on its own; just read the new one off the screen.
- Pick the store. Only stores with an app on are listed. If none are, turn the app on for the store first.
- Pick the app when the store has more than one turned on. A store with only Preppy on skips this.
- Tap Pair and install, then confirm. The page names the app, the tablet, and the store one more time.
The tablet downloads the app, verifies it, and opens it by itself, even if nobody is standing there. It shows up on the Devices page once the app is running. The pair page offers See devices and Pair another.
A tablet runs one app. Switching a tablet from Preppy to DMS or back is done from the console and replaces the app; the two never share a tablet.
Replacing a tablet
Section titled “Replacing a tablet”Run PizzaBot Setup on the new tablet and pair it the same way. The new tablet takes the store’s settings and content from the console the first time it checks in, so nothing has to be copied from the old one.
Each store has a fixed number of tablets per app (three for Preppy, one for DMS). If pairing says the store is full, open Devices, find the old tablet, and tap Revoke device, then pair again. Reinstalling on the same tablet does not use a new slot.
Older tablets
Section titled “Older tablets”A tablet set up by an earlier PizzaBot Setup shows its code under Settings → Connect inside the app, and that code already names the app, so the pair page only asks for the store.
Kits from PizzaBot
Section titled “Kits from PizzaBot”A tablet ordered from PizzaBot arrives already paired to the store you named on the order. Plug it in, connect it to the store’s Wi-Fi, and it opens straight into the app.
